Food Support Information
Many students enjoy breakfast and lunch at school on a regular basis. It is understandable when families find it challenging to provide those meals during school vacations. Please note the following free lunch and food pantry information.
Food pantries partner with the Food Bank of CNY to provide low cost, nutritious food to those in need. The following is a list of food pantries and services available in our community to assist families. To find your appropriate food pantry location and to sign up, contact the Interreligious Food Consortium (IRC) weekdays at 315-474-8855 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Their website is: http://www.ifccny.org/.

Camillus Middle School Battle of the Books
On Thursday, March 20, 2025 Camillus Middle School held its annual Battle of the Books Final Four Competition. West Genesee participates in the CNY Battle of the Books which takes place across four counties.
The CMS competition began with 9 teams reading 8 novels over the course of several months. Students not only had to read the books, but also strategize and recall important details. Two initial rounds of jeopardy style competition were held and four teams made it to the finals.
The Final Four teams were Hit or Miss - Mason Tuttle, Zoey Corrigan, Carter Grothier and Keen Goff; The Partners in Crime - Addison Davis, Lillian Madden, Azdha Mundath and Callie Smith; and Sommer Scholar Scholars Part 2 - Peyon Sabene, Sofia Pizarro, Caliope O’Rourke and Chess Kids 2 - Karam Almaletti, Ben Lyga and RJ Schubmehl. After a very intense competition, including 10 sudden death tie break questions, Chess Kids 2 was declared the winner.
They will go on to represent Camillus Middle School at the OCM BOCES Regional Competition on Thursday, March 27, 2025.
Congratulations to all teams who participated as we celebrate the strong culture of reading we foster at West Genesee.

Starting this evening at sundown, February 28-March 29, many of our students and community members will be celebrating Ramadan.
West Genesee CSD wishes all of those who celebrate a month filled with the joys of family, community, peace, & understanding. Ramadan Mubarek and Ramadan Kareem.
Ramadan is a quiet, reflective time of worship, prayer, helping others, and spending time with loved ones.
Muslims that are 12 or older fast during Ramadan, not eating or drinking anything between sunrise and sunset. Fasting reminds Muslims to appreciate their blessings and to help those in need.
Families get up for an early meal before the sun rises called suhoor, and the fast is broken with an evening meal after the sun sets called iftar. #RamadanMubarek #RamadanKareem #Suhoor #Iftar
